Aruna Shields is a British actress with Indian heritage who began her career in UK theatre before performing lead roles in Indian, French and British cinema. One of the largest studios in India chose Aruna to play the lead 'Maya' in action thriller Prince (2010). When the film released worldwide she became the fastest rising star on Google India. Aruna performed all her own stunts including motorbike bungee jumps. Aruna's soundtrack for the movie "Tere Liye" currently has over 47million views on YouTube and is a Bollywood hit song. After worldwide auditions Casting Director Des Hamilton then chose Aruna for the lead in the epic adventure Ao, le dernier Néandertal (2010). The film was produced by French studio and cinema chain UGC after their Oscar-nominated A Prophet (2009). Aruna learned a prehistoric language and body movement for the role. Other critically acclaimed lead roles include 'Nera', an artist's muse, in the avant-garde feature Mr. Singh/Mrs. Mehta (2010). Her commercials include Lynx (Axe) and Pantene Pro V. A descendant of Sage Mandavya Maharishi, Aruna's Indian family originates from Bangalore. Aruna has a Distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, a degree from Central Saint Martins and studied Psychotherapy at Master's level. Aruna is now a therapist and executive coach based in Los Angeles who practices Transcendental Meditation (TM), advanced techniques such as the Sidhi's.
