Sofia Oggioni H. is a Colombian cinematographer with an educational background in arts, and documentary. Her fascination with the artistic properties of light ultimately led to her career in filmmaking, working her way up the ladder from the lighting department to assistant camera and finally DoP and camera operator; this makes her one of the first women cinematographers in Colombia involved in the film industry shooting documentaries and narrative features. She is no stranger to shooting in nature and has developed a sensibility to interpret and complement natural light and color of jungles, rivers, and harsh landscapes, or create light from the darkness in unexplored dry and underwater caves to film studios and urban location setups. For Sofia the light is a powerful narrative tool that needs to be designed according to each story and she closely collaborate with the Director to come up with a concept that can help bring their vision to life. Her experience has provided her with a special sensitivity to observe human behavior in order to anticipate events and quickly set up to capture unexpected moments of life so when the director is working with natural actors she is always ready to for those special moments that sometimes only happen one time... Besides her numerous documentaries and shorts, Sofia is best known for the following feature films: Los Silencios (2018), Ann (2016), Los Hongos (35mm, 2013), La Sirga (35mm 2011), El Vuelco del Cangrejo (Crabb Trap) (16mm, 2009).
