Giovanni Maccelli was born in Prato in 1977. He graduated in Theory and Technique of Film Language at the University of Florence and graduated in Film Direction at the Immagina School, also in Florence. He moved to Madrid in 2003 and began his journey in the world of independent cinema. He founded a production company, Zampanò Producciones, together with his partner Carlota Coronado. He alternates the work of director, producer and animator with teaching as an animation professor, teaching at institutions such as: Universidad de Málaga, Filmoteca Española, Fundación SGAE, Comunidad de Madrid, Istituto Europeo di Design, Biblioteca Regional de Madrid, CIMA, PNR, Espacio Camon, Escuela de cine EIMA, Centro Cultural Conde Duque, Espacio Abierto Quinta de los Molinos and film festivals such as Alcine, Certamen Internacional de Cortos de Soria, Festival de Cine de Madrid, Torrecine, Semana del Corto de la Comunidad de Madrid, Muestra Joven ICAIC (La Habana), Mi Primer Festival, etc... His projects, (from stop-motion animations, comedy, social drama, to the horror genre) produced thanks to more than thirty grants between the ICAA and the Comunidad de Madrid, have won: * more than 250 awards in international festivals (including Austin Film Festival, Animayo, Zlín Film Festival, Festival de Málaga, Alcine, Festival Ibérico de Cine, Medina del Campo, Aguilar de Campoo, Elche, FibABC, LesGai-CineMad, NotodoFilmFest, etc ...); * 1275 selections in international festivals including various Oscars pre-selectors (Nashville Film Festival, Palm Springs International ShortFest, Heartland Film Festival, Animayo, Bogoshorts, Guanajuato International Film Festival, Go Short, Festival de Cine de Huesca ...); * the Goya® Award for best animated short film 2015 with Juan y la Nube. With Zampanò Producciones he produces 3 feature films and 35 short films, as well as various audiovisual campaigns for institutions such as the Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología, the Consejo Superior de Deportes, the UCM, Film Madrid, Teatralia, the Festival de Cine de Madrid, etc. ...
