Marcial Rios Salcido is an award winning filmmaker winning Best Director at Cine Sin Fin 2007 for Maquillaje and Best Stage Play for Los Fieles. In 2013, he also won Best Short Screenplay at the Long Beach QueerFest and was nominated for Best Short at the Oaxaca Film Festival for the short film, Claudio, Maura, y Yo. He was chosen for Film Independent's Project:Involve as a writer/director and his screenplay, Rocketeros, was picked for the Killer Scripts List. As a Mexican-American director, screenwriter and producer, Rios is strongly influenced by the Mexican Golden Era of film; his films marked by complex narratives. Equally so is the influence of melodrama employed by the Telenovelas always playing in the background of his home growing up. Rios has written, produced and directed all of his projects, including his thesis film La Tierra del Dolor and his feature film Maquillaje. His films have been official selections of numerous film festivals both nationwide and international. Starting out, Rios worked as head writer and producer for the Imagen Award winning music channel, LATV while developing and producing Se Habla Rock for MUN2, a division of NBC/ Universal. In 2006, Rios began casting reality TV working with networks including TLC, MTV, Telemundo and VH1. In 2011, Marcial Rios Salcido went back to producing and developing reality television with Gordo Entertainment. Currently, he is producing for The Dr. Phil Show on CBS and finishing his new film, Killer Queen.
