Mike Scholtz is a documentary filmmaker from Minnesota. His films often focus on his home state. His first feature-length documentary was "Wild Bill's Run," which followed a charismatic adventurer, Bill Cooper, as he attempted to lead an expedition from Minnesota to Moscow during the height of the Cold War in 1972. Scholtz is also one of the founders and organizers of the Free Range Film Festival, an annual celebration of independent cinema that takes place in a barn that has been converted into a movie theater.
