Hailing from Los Angeles, CA. by way of Texas, I am sometimes better known as, K.J.! My interest in advertising began early on having been the hero or main performer in over fifty national commercials and special promos for companies like McDonalds, Mountain Dew, Adidas, Nike, Fox Sports, Play-station and Subway. Once I became too old to be the young guy anymore, my curiosity shifted to wanting to understand the more innate workings of advertising. This is when my Directing and Writing endeavors began. In 2010, I found some incredible success penning an updated adaptation of the urban, cult classic, Cooley High, which led to my first feature film, "Caught on Tape", a progressive, Shakespearian-street, hip hop musical starring Cedric the Entertainer, Vivica A. Fox and Bokeem Woodbine. I then wrote the urban drama "Maestro", that was commissioned by, Mitchell Lieb, President of Motion Picture Soundtracks, Disney Pictures. In 2012, I won "Best Music Video" for "Welcome to Summer School", which solidified my transition into directing. Being the rebel that I am (side eye) I chose to pass on traditional film school, for the "School of Hard Knocks" and decided to learn directing from the ground up. This consisted of shadowing one of the commercial industry's juggernauts David Shane for three years learning the ins and outs of the business, before venturing out on my own. I pull from personal and past experiences when I shoot, mostly gaining experience from gaming and losing to kids on Fortnite and Call of Duty. So much so, my gaming channel "The World's Worst Gamer" is doing phenomenal. All so that I may thrive in directing performance-based spots, often with a unique comedic skew. Can I get an, Amen!
