Fernando Salinas was born in Celaya a city inside the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. He is the first son of Jose Luis Salinas and Juana Castro. From an early age his father interested him in films and books, Fernando's first small film was made for his first film lecture while at college, this class was imparted by Jeremias Ramirez the film got some showing and Jeremias became Fernando's partner in crime for the following films. In 2004 Fernando wrote Parada paraíso (2005) based on an idea from Carlos Capetillo the script won the chance to be part of the "Rally Malayerba 2004" a project that took place in "The Expresion en Corto Film Festival" currently "The Guanajuato International Film Festival". Parada Paraiso won the Rally and received an award consisting in film cans and film rental equipment, this award later became Mina (2006). In 2008 Fernando Salinas was awarded a Fullbright-Garcia Robles scholarship to pursue his MFA in film making at Ohio University. He is working on his thesis film (2012). 01/30/2012
