Alex U. Griffin is a cinematographer, director and puppeteer based in the United States. His aim is to turn every shot into a moment for memorable storytelling, and to build dynamic collaborations with fellow artists and filmmakers. As a cinematographer, he worked on a number of projects ranging from commercials and music videos to web series and films. He studied cinematography under mentors Johnny Jensen, ASC., and Bill Dill, ASC., and has studied puppetry and performance under Martin P Robinson (Sesame Street, TMNT), Tim Lagasse (Crash and Bernstein, The Muppets), and Ronnie Burkett (The Daisy Theatre). His films (as cinematographer and director) have played at Slamdance, Atlanta Film Festival, Reel Puppetry Film Festival, Comic Con International and Cannes Short Film Festival. Alex is also the Director of Photography for the all-puppet feature 'Yamasong: March of the Hollows' for Dark Dunes Productions, director Sam Koji Hale and exec producers Toby Froud and Heather Henson. As a photographer, Alex was behind-the-scenes photographer for many productions, events, and people. His photographs have been published in many theater and performance publications. A puppeteer active in the puppet community, Alex was a lead in 'HeartFelt,' 'The Misadventures of Landon,' 'Being Doug,' the upcoming 'Monster of the Sky,' and performs Le Mutt for Les Mutts Puppets. He is a director at large for the Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry, Puppeteers of America, and is a film coordinator for Heather Henson's Handmade Puppet Dreams.
