P. Sam Kessie is an emerging British-born Ghanaian producer, writer, movement, and performance film/video maker. Her works span across several genres including fiction, documentary, and experimental hybrids as music videos, dance films, and 16mm experimental shorts. Kessie has exhibited and presented her moving image work domestically and internationally at festivals and institutions such as at the National Geographic Society, Zanzibar International Film Festival, Carthage Film Festival, and Cambodia Film Festival. She is an alumna of the Berlinale Talent and Durban Talent and has participated with her directorial debut feature film project, 'Unbalanced', at Produire au Sud Script Studio in Durban, Open Doors Co-production Market at Locarno Film Festival, and Durban FilmMart at Durban International Film Festival. Her experimental works in dance and movement using cinematic tools have been broadcasted on Iowa Public Access Television's The Film Lounge, screened at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Alternating Currents Festival, the 47th Dance on Camera Festival presented by Dance Film Association and Film at Lincoln Center, and exhibited at the Museum of Impossible Forms in Helsinki, Finland. Kessie lives and produces work across the US, Europe, and Ghana through her production company, Sankofa Pictures.
