Jason Kent is an independent filmmaker and the founder of Pure Independent Pictures, an initiative dedicated to supporting Australian independent filmmaking. After being funded by the Australian Film Commission early in his career, Jason turned his back on the government system--which he believes stifles creativity. He completed a documentary about the future of the Australian film industry, called What's Wrong With Australian Films, which screened nationally in 2014. He has also written and produced several short films, one starring Rush's Josef Ber, and his first feature film is due for release in 2016. Jason's screenplays have placed well in prominent contests out of the U.S., he optioned his first script to an Academy Award nominated & Golden Globe winning Australian producer, and he teaches screenwriting at The University of Sydney, based on his book, Aristotelian-Inspired Screenwriting, A Simple Guide to Complex Storytelling.
