Papa Joe Aviance is a successful clothing designer, musician and CEO of his LA-based production company, Papa Joe Networks. This triple threat was able to get to where he is today because of his drive, ambition and positivity. Born in Saginaw, Michigan, Papa Joe saw first-hand the importance of a strong work ethic. His grandfather's own business savvy inspired him to travel the world as a successful businessman, eventually moving to New York City to work his way up the ranks on Wall Street for several high profile companies. However, seeking an outlet for his creativity, Papa Joe moved to Hollywood in 2002 to pursue a career in acting and music. Papa Joe Aviance started off my acting career years ago when he weighed a hefty 450 lbs. His most prominent features were a Disney commercial and The Dave Chappelle Show. He was also doing music at the time and was featured in his first music video, "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" with Lula, which hit #6 on the Billboard Magazine Dance Charts. He did not like his body or the way that he appeared in the video and decided that it was time to lose the weight that I had been carrying around for years. He started walking and he hasn't stopped. In 18 months, Papa Joe has successfully lost over 250 lbs. He also sought frugal solutions to the challenge of eating healthy, buying fresh and wholesome foods at discount grocery stores. Now 250 pounds lighter, Papa Joe spreads his gospel of wellness. "I want people to be as happy as I am," he says, "and part of that is being healthy." Because of this, he has been featured on local and national shows such as, Live BIG with Ali Vincent, Rachael Ray (recurring), The Doctors, Good Morning America and Home and Family. Papa Joe is also the recipient of the 2013 Lifestyle Change Award from the American Heart Association and is the Brand Ambassador for The 99 Cent Only Stores. Recently, Papa Joe was chosen as a 'Lifestyle Champion' to represent Union Bank and the American Heart Association at this year's Rose Bowl Parade.
