David Ekholm was born on 16 January 1979 in Ekshaerad, Sweden. He is a retired biathlete. His first year in the sport was 1993 and he made his World Cup debut in 2002. Ekholm participated in the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin. He finished 35th in the Individual, 37th in the sprint and 38th in the pursuit. Ekholm took part in 5 World Championships during his career, from 2004 until 2009. His best achievement was winning a silver medal in the relay at the 2009 World Championships in Pyeongchang. His best personal performance was 5th place in the 20 km Individual at those very same Championships. On a World Cup level, Ekholm had four Top 20 finishes. He was 14th in the sprint in Antholz-Anterselva in 2008-2009, 16th in the sprint in Hochfilzen in 2007-2008 and twice 19th in the Individual in Östersund in 2006-2007 and in the pursuit in Brezno-Osrblie in 2005-2006. The best overall finish, Ekholm ever made was 54th in the 2008-2009 season. That was in fact his last season, after which he announced his retirement. On 19 July 2010, David Ekholm married his longtime girlfriend and teammate Helena Jonsson. Today the couple are happy with the birth of their first child, named Moa.
