The Sounds are a post-punk alternative indie retro 80s-style New Wave revival rock quintet from Helsingborg, Sweden. The group first formed in 1999. The band members are: Maja Ivarrson (vocals), Jesper Anderberg (keyboards/piano/guitar), Fredrik Nilsson (drums), Johan Bengtsson (bass), and Felix Rodriguez (guitar). The Sounds recorded their debut album "Living in America" in Stockholm, Sweden. The album was released in 2002 and was a substantial commercial success which went all the way to #4 on the Swedish album charts. The rousing titular tune soared to #3 on the Swedish radio charts. The band has scored additional Top 30 Swedish radio hits with the songs "Hit Me," "Seven Days a Week," "Rock'n'Roll," and "Song with a Mission." The Sounds released their follow-up album "Dying to Say This to You" in 2006; it was recorded at Studio 880 in Oakland, California and peaked at #8 on the Swedish album charts. The band went on to perform in over 200 shows in 2006; more than half of these shows were in America. They have been featured as part of the line-up for both the 2004 and 2006 Warped Tour concert events. The Sounds toured both Australia and Western Europe in 2007. Their songs have been featured on the soundtracks to both "Final Destination" sequels, "Music and Lyrics," and "This Divided State." The song "Don't Want to Hurt You" was used in a TV commercial for Geico that first aired in September, 2008. The band have sold over 500,000 records worldwide to date. The Sounds released their third album "Crossing the Rubicon" in June, 2009.
