Dany Verlinden, with Dany short for Daniël, born August 15, 1963, is a Belgian former professional soccer goalkeeper who played for Belgian sides Lierse S.K. and Club Brugge. Especially with the latter side, where he stood between the posts for sixteen seasons, Verlinden has garnered major domestic success by winning five Belgian League titles and five domestic cups. Verlinden represented the Belgian national soccer team at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cup (in the United States and France, respectively) as a reserve goalkeeper behind first-choice goalkeepers Michel Preud'homme and Filip De Wilde. He retired as a player of Club Brugge in May 2004 upon bagging his fifth Belgian Cup win against K.S.K. Beveren at the Heysel Stadium in Brussels, capital of Belgium. Verlinden is now politically active in Coxyde, a coastal town in the West Flanders area of Belgium.
