Cody Lucich is an award-winning director, cinematographer, and editor who has worked with Sundance, Nike, Toyota, HBO, Vice, Disney and PETA. He also works extensively in community-based media, which anchors him in culture and a more deeply-rooted relationship to the notion of 'Native media.' Lucich is the son of famous Maidu basket weaver Denise Davis and is from the Maidu Tribe of Northern California. Growing up in his culture sets him apart from other commercially-oriented filmmakers. He is directing a documentary about Standing Rock that is the only Native-made film about the uprising. Lucich spent eight months at camp documenting the movement and became a vital part of the innermost front line architects. His voice as a filmmaker has been said to have influenced the movement, as much as the movement influenced him and his storytelling. Lucich has a highly stylized aesthetic with a deep-thinking approach. His narrative endeavors include developing episodic drama about Northern California Indigenous life in the communities he grew up in, and narratives focusing on Native content. He is a hybrid between fiction and non-fiction worlds with focus primarily on directing and cinematography. Go to his website to find more information: codylucich.squarespace.com
