Sudipto is a pioneer in the world of Independent film-making in India. Sudipto's film career began with documentary work, for which he rose to national acclaim on his silent experimental documentary film The Other Wealth (TOW). TOW earned critical acclaim, including UNO's 50th Anniversary screening. Shortly thereafter he signed a two-year contract with The World Bank for 21 films based on their activities in Indian sub continent. The series called Swamsidh, allowed Sudipto to travel more than 170,000 km to the most remote corners of India His international career spans over a decade, which has seen Sudipto involved in a number of European and Indian co-productions and attending over 30 film festivals all over the world. The co-productions include: Akhnoor, a French Co-Production won the Best Film Award at the Golden Gate Film Festival, the Integrated Realization Award at the Brussels International Film Festival, Special Jury Award at the San Francisco Film Festival and Special Civilian Award from the Belgium Government among others. Other co-productions include Corentin's Quest, a French Co-Production) and Anthiponnovettam, a German Co Production also mark as his earlier works. He has written and directed 3 full length feature films and 2 short feature, last 10 years. He also worked as Creative Producer for 1 feature film and 1 as a producer - in the last 10-years. In 2006, he directed his first feature, The Last Monk' (that premiered at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival and got special screening at Rotterdam Film Festival in the same year). The Last Monk tells the story of a young newlywed woman pursuing her PhD, who travels to a Buddhist Monastery in Himalayan India. There she unexpectedly begins a tumultuous romantic affair with her guide, who teaches her to overcome her repressed upbringing and society's conservative, stereotypical norms for women. In 2015-2016, Sudipto directed In the Name of Jihad (aka "Aasma'), a thriller about cross-border terrorism set in the picturesque Himalayas. Four Jihadists abduct a helpless young village girl for a night of depravity on the eve of their intended terrorism. But one Jihadist begins to harbor second thoughts, and cleverly concocts a scheme to kill each comrade until only he and another are left standing - with only one interpretation of the true meaning of Jihad surviving. In 2016, Sudipto directed his third feature, Lucknow Times, currently in post-production.
