Zane Michael Powell

Zane Michael Powell is a New York City based actor and artist. Originally from Sydney Australia, Zane immersed himself in theatre and arts from a young age taking classes with Michelle Collins, the Griffin Theatre Company, and Kate Gaul (Siren Theatre Company), as well as other well-known schools in the Sydney area. Upon the completion of high school Zane deiced to pursue further training and artistic inspiration in New York City. At the young age of 19 Zane came to New York with a suitcase and a place at the Stella Adler Summer conservatory. Fortunately Zane instantly connected with New York and sorted the details, such as accommodation etc fairly quickly. After completing the summer program at the Stella Adler studio, Zane returned to Sydney, but it wasn't long before his desire to learn and love of the artistic force of New York City drew him back. In 2009 Zane was accepted to the prestigious Circle in the Square Theatre School, where he trained with teachers such as, Alan Langdon, Therese Hayden, Jacqueline Brookes, Andera Haring, Leigh Dillon, Jeanne Slater, Edward Berkeley, BH Barry (Tony award winner), Mina Yakima, Beth Falcone, Ken Shatz and Elizabeth Loughran. With alumni including Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Felicity Huffman, Idenia Menzel, Lady Gaga, Kevin Bacon, Benicio del Toro, Justin Kirk and Molly Shannon. Zane completed the program in 2011. Throughout his professional career Zane has appeared in commercials airing in Australia for the AFL, FUJI Digital Cameras and 3 mobile. He has starred in productions including James and the Giant Peach (Sydney), The Cherry Orchard (NY), After the Fall (NY), and Chain of Fools (Sydney). Zane also appeared in the AFI award winning film Hunt Angels. Recently Zane has formed a theatre company with close friend Brett Molik, called the Technicolor Initiative, which aims to provide a means to develop new and re-imagined works based of the curiosity and ideas of its members and collaborators. Zane is developing a play he has written, tentatively tilted "the land", as well as working with several other theatre companies on projects in the New York area.
