City of birth : Los Angeles, California, USA

DeAndre Dontay Bowie was born on January 26, 1987, in Los Angeles, California, to the proud parents Melvin Butler and Cheyenne Bowie. By the age of 5, he knew he had a passion for being an actor. Dre drew his inspiration from his favorite actor, Chris Tucker. Dre was cast in several plays 3000 miles from Los Angeles in his new home Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Never did he realize that one day he would return to Hollywood to make his infatuation with becoming different characters turn into his way of life. While awaiting his unknown future, Dre became a Basketball Star in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, receiving numerous trophies and awards for his on-court action. Dre Bowie returned to Los Angeles in 2000 at the age of 14 to continue playing Basketball with North Hollywood High Huskies, never losing his B-boy status. Just for kicks, Dre thought it would be fun to audition for the Janet Jackson video "I Want You." He booked it, and at the age of 16, decided to make acting his career. From Noggin's dating show "Best Friends" to promoting Nicole Richie's movie in a commercial for MTV titled Kids in America (2005), his B-boy status changed to rising star, booking almost everything in his path. In addition, he was approached by the Bravo Channel to do a reality show named "Kids Sports" and approached by MTV to do a reality show similar to "Sweet 16" entitled Coming of Age (2007). Dre knew he had what it takes to float to the top. However, he had to turn down some opportunities because he was playing in a basketball tournament in Hawaii. He was cast in Gridiron Gang (2006) with Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) and Xzibit. The doors opened further, giving Dre his first big break offering him an audition with director 'Richard LaGravenese', who then cast Dre as one of the Freedom Writers in his film entitled Freedom Writers (2007), working with two time Oscar winner, Hilary Swank and Grammy Award Winner and recording artist, Mario. Dre was recently cast in an MTV's new documentary entitled Juvies (2007) and was on MTV's dating show Next (2005). He was also featured in Disney's new artist Jordan Pruitt video and R&B artist Leela James "Good Times."
