Born in Madrid, Alejandra is the elder daughter of the film-producer José Frade. Her father has produced more than 100 films in Spain. Alejandra read a script for the first time when she was eight years old. She completed her formal education at Institut Le Rosey, in Switzerland were she studied for 9 years, and acquired her certificate of "Maturité Fédéral Suisse". She is fluent in English, French, Italian and Spanish. She studied Architecture in the Polytechnic University of Madrid while she started her film-making career at the age of 19 in her family's company, where she worked in feature films and television series in many departments: costumes, production design, production, direction and even as a sound boomer for one week, in a musical that received a Goya award. The family company also distributed films and Alejandra worked in the acquisitions department attending Cannes Film Festival , Berlinale and American Film Market amongst others. In 1996, Canal 7 television opened, a broadcaster station for Madrid and Alejandra was one of the start-up directors and then she was appointed CEO of it. Alejandra has learned about the business inside out, working as runner, in her starting days and up until CEO of the family's company. Alejandra then decided to start a new company independently, Gheko Films.
