June Jing Wang, a Chinese Canadian, was former CCTV (China Central TV Station) journalist and "Outstanding Youth" winner for Chinese TV & Broadcasting Academy. In her early 20's, she published her first book, a literature monograph, Watching Seas Listening to Tides, which gained her popularity in China. In 2004, J. Wang graduated from York University of Canada, with a degree of Masters of Arts in Cinema Studies. In 2006, J. Wang wrote and directed her first feature film, Forever Fireworks, which was exhibited in 2008 Busan International Film Festival. Crafted the script of her second feature Perfect Baby for over two years, she directed and shot the film in Paris in 2011. The film was shortlisted in England and New York International film Festivals, screened in China's "Huabiao Awards", and achieved strong box office and word-of-mouth in Chinese mainstream cinemas. J. Wang was honored with the "En Route to France Award" by The FilmFrance Commission and "Promising Director" claim in 2012. Next, J. Wang joined China-France Co-Production feature film Wolf Totem, as Co-Producer, Script Coordinator, and Documentary Director. The film won a Hua Biao Award and delivered a $130 million global box office in 2015. The Tree Knows, a magical realistic romantic musical comedy, is the third feature written and directed by J. Wang. The film takes place in Toronto, Buenos Aires and China, exploring female empowerment through the unique intimate perspective of Tango. In March 2020, due to the global Coronavirus pandemic, J. Wang was stranded in Buenos Aires while doing The Tree Knows script research. She spontaneously produced and directed an interview style documentary A Tango with Chino Perico, which won 2020 IndieFest Film Award for a Special Purpose Production. J. Wang's passionate narratives are full of compassion. The spirit of her characters always strives to develop their vulnerabilities into strength and to raise again from misfortune. She aspired to create inspirational films, believes that the positive thinking in the power to lift one's life.
