Don van Dijke

Don is a Dutch actor active on television and in theaters. He is also active as singer and director. He excels as Black Piet 'Chefpiet', a character based on the popular tradition of saint Nicolas (Sinterklaas). His appearance as Black Piet spawned many TV series; "Pittige Pepernoten" (1997), "Hallo, Met Sinterklaas..." (1998), "De Club van Sinterklaas" (1999, 2001, 2002, 2005), "Sinterklaas & Pakjesboot 13" (2006) and more recently "Slot Marsepeinstein" (2013-2014). Also in theaters he is active in the role of Black Piet. Appearing in multiple TV series as the same character is possible because the rights of the character 'Chefpiet' are in the public domain as long as Don performs the role; this means he can be 'Chefpiet' for any company. The origin 'Black Piet' even rests completely in the public domain. In theaters his most known roles are from the plays "Buurman & Buurman Gaan Verhuizen" (2011) and "Nijntje" (2001-2004, 2007, 2009). Further roles include "Alleen Op De Wereld" (2012-2013), "De Daltons" (2012), "Trio Cor Nuiten" (2011), "Hond & Wolf" (2009-2011), "Snoepwinkel Van Zevensloten" (2008), "De Zwavelstokken" (2006), "Tristan & Isolde" (2004), "Het Lied Van Don Quichot" (2001), "The Name Of The Helper" (1997), "Robin Hood" (1997), "Repelsteeltje" (1997 - script by Youp van 't Hek), "Bij De Beesten Los" (1991), "La Notte Di Fellini" (1988), "Hunker" (1987), "Strijd" (1986), "Doe Normaal Joh!" (1982) and "Paniek Op Nederland 1 en 2" (1978 - with Loes Luca). He was also active as actor on the Day Against Violence (2003) as well as being active for amateur play for unemployed youth (1981). In his career he has collaborated the most with Michiel Kerbosch, Fred van der Hilst, Pim van Alten and Bram van der Vlugt. Chefpiet is one the most important and oldest Pieten of saint Nicolas. He is responsible for the baking of all of the candy for the children while he is also a talented singer. Chefpiet starred in the television series "Pittige Pepernoten" (1997) for RTL4, in the very popular television series "De Club van Sinterklaas" (1999, 2001, 2002 and 2005) for Fox Kids and Jetix, and in the home video and television movie "Sinterklaas & Pakjesboot 13" (2006). In 2000 he was part of a series of special weekends taped live in the broadcast office of Fox Kids. In 1998 Don performed the role of Hoofdpiet for TROS in a television special titled "Hallo, Met Sinterklaas...". In 2013 Don performed the role of Smartpiet for Nickelodeon and Studio 100 in the series "Slot Marsepeinstein" which he performed again in 2014 for broadcast on Studio 100 TV in Belgium.
