Liam was born in the suburbs of Melbourne, as the youngest of four kids. After a childhood of endless performing in an attempt to prove his worth to elder siblings, he landed his first television role at 15, in the Channel Nine Childrens' series Snakes Tales as "JJ". He later played lead guest roles in Channel 7's City Homicide and ABC's Dead Gorgeous, as well as "Moritz" in Melbourne's premiere of Spring Awakening. After graduating high school at 18, Liam was accepted into Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts where he played a variety of leading roles, including "Orlando" in Shakespeare's As You Like It, "Givola" in Brecht's The Resistible Rise Of Arturo Ui and "Stuart" in the controversial Realism by Anthony Neilson.
