Born and raised in Chicago, Aaron Semmel grew up wanting to make movies underwater with Jacque Cousteau. When Cousteau passed away, Semmel aimed his sights towards dry land. After studying Film Production and Creative Writing at the prestigious Columbia College, Semmel started his Hollywood Journey by working as Grip on the set of a Roger Corman television series titled Black Scorpion. Utilizing the vast production knowledge he learned on set, he quickly got a job at Maverick Films, the film shingle of Madonna - where she called him "A" and he called her "M". At Maverick, Semmel helped to produce the such films as Agent Cody Banks and Gravedancers. In 2005, Semmel began working under James G. Robinson (CEO) and Guy McElwaine (President) at Morgan Creek Productions. Working closely with development, production, marketing and distribution, Semmel helped to produce such films as The Good Shepherd, Man of the Year, Georgia Rule and Sydney White. In 2009, Semmel joined Thinkfactory Media, moving into the world of television production. Although Semmel worked closely with Leslie Greif (CEO) to build a scripted department, he also helped make reality television series such as Gene Simmons Family Jewels (A&E), Dogg After Dark (MTV), Teach: Tony Danza (A&E), Sinbad: It's All About Family (WEtv) Aaron traveled to Romania in 2011 to Co-Produce Hatfields & McCoys, directed by Kevin Reynolds and starring Kevin Costner, Bill Paxton, Tom Berenger, Mare Winningham, Jena Malone and Powers Boothe. Airing on History, the three night mini-series became the highest rated program in the history of basic cable and went on to win five Emmy's, one Golden Globe, one Screen Actors Guild Award, on Writers Guild of America Awards and was nominated for many more. In 2013, Semmel left his position as Director of Scripted Development at Thinkfactory Media to start his own company, BoomBoomBooya, Inc. Semmel partnered with Pilgrim Studios to produce an unscripted hour special with country music star Big Kenny Alphin of Big & Rich for the TLC Network. Semmel is currently producing the modern day reboot of the 1990s youth cult classic feature film franchise 3 Ninjas, as well as a feature film with Director Ron Shelton. BoomBoomBooya also has several co-production agreements with some of the best companies in the business, including Relativity Television, Big Fish Entertainment and GRB Entertainment, to name a few. Aaron also dedicates time as a Program Consultant for American Cinematheque, Hollywood's premier non-profit dedicated to the public display of motion pictures, where he produces special theatrical screenings and events. Semmel created and oversees the Associate Cinematheque Board, a group of young professionals who develop ideas and work directly with industry leaders that populate the prestigious American Cinematheque Board of Directors.
