Filipe Costa was born in Coimbra in 1980. From 1998 to 2002 he works at Rádio Universidade de Coimbra (RUC - a College Radio) as a broadcaster and audio producer. In 1999 he joins the college theatre group "Teatro dos Estudantes da Universidade de Coimbra" (TEUC), where he performs in Chekhov's "Uncle Vanya", directed by Rogério de Carvalho and in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream", directed by Antônio Mercado. In 2006 he finishes his degree in "Theatre and Education" in Coimbra. During his graduation, he performs as Alexander Khlestakov in Gogol's "The Government's Inspector", directed by Clóvis Levy and as Peer Gynt in Ibsen's "Peer Gynt", directed by Antônio Mercado. His professional debut is marked by his appearence in Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar", directed by Luís Miguel Cintra, in a joint venture by Teatro da Cornucópia and Teatro Municipal São Luiz. For the next two years he would perform in three productions by "O Teatrão": Gil Vicente's "Gil Vicente? Samicas...", directed by António Fonseca; he then plays The Singer in Brecht's "The Causasian Chalk Circle", directed by Marco Antonio Rodrigues; Victor Remington, in "Como Havemos de Estar", directed by Nuno Pino Custódio. In that same company he also worked as a musical director, sound designer and original soundtrack composer. In 2010 he joins Teatro Meridional to perform in "1974", directed by Miguel Seabra. In Cinema he worked on his first full-lenght film in the "Embargo"'s leading role, directed by António Ferreira. He is also one of the founding members of the bands "Bunnyranch" and "Sean Riley & The Slowriders".
