Pedro Peira, PhD (Director & Producer) is a Fulbright scholar and filmmaker. He produced the feature documentary 'Soul' (Berlinale, 2017), which screened at Transylvania, Valladolid, Traverse City, and Haifa, amongst other festivals. The film received distribution in North America and Japan, where it was theatrically released at 16 theaters. His first feature documentary as a director was 'Música Maestros' (2014), a movie on the positive effects of music on people with problems such as Parkinson's disease or Down's syndrome. In 2016, he completed a Ph.D. in film studies at Complutense University in Madrid and was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to study documentary at the New York Film Academy, Los Angeles branch. While in California, he directed five short documentaries focused on the Latino population in the U.S.: '(Latin) American Dream', 'Veterana', 'Trabajadores', 'Center Cut' and 'Españomics', which screened and won awards at numerous festivals, and which enabled him to return to Spain and consolidate his career as a director. Besides working on 'LA QueenCiañera', he's now producing the film 'Free Way', a personal-growth story of a mother and a son, considered amongst the world's top chefs.
