Having dual roots, Andrew was born in Birmingham, Alabama and later moved to Springfield, Massachusetts. A graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, Andrew embarked on a successful banking career which has lasted for twenty years. At the age of 39, Andrew awakened his love of the film industry by helping to produce several indie shorts and quick features.
