The Serenaders were a Jazz Band of kids from Thousand Oaks, California,(mostly students of Vanessa and Eddie Allen). They played the original arrangements from the Big Band era. The oldest was 17 years old. The players were Hugh Brooks, Paul Edwards, Steve Still, Chris Straight and Matt Schaffer(Jazz/Dixieland) on trumpets; Steve Jeffers on trombone; Steve Josephs, Steve James, Ken Roach, Rick Still and Kevin Straight on reeds; Dale Gifford on drums; Mike Hanson and Wally Stolze on bass; Kim Zerba on piano; and Mary Ann Platz on vocals. The band leader and music instructor was Eddie Allen. They played Hollywood wrap parties, benefits, malls and private parties and even had a cameo in the movie "Hook Line and Sinker" starring Jerry Lewis.
