Brandon Ficara

Director | Actor | Writer
Date of birth : 07/02/1975
City of birth : Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and raised in the seasonal beach community of Ocean City, New Jersey, Brandon used humor to combat the tribulations of life at an early age. Born with Sprangles Deformity, a condition that required major back surgery when he was three years old, Brandon used humor to combat pain and ostracism. His "unique look" would someday be the cornerstone of his act. While growing up just nine miles outside of Atlantic City, he was afforded the privilege of seeing comedy legends at an early age. Both of parents worked at the Sands Hotel and Casino, and they would bring him to see such sand-up comics as Billy Crystal, Jerry Seinfeld, Howie Mandel, Alan King and Richard Jeni. This exposure sparked an insatiable flame for stand-up comedy that still burns brightly in him. At the age of 21 Brandon moved to Charleston, South Carolina. A year later he began his stand-up career at The Comedy Zone in Charleston. After a few performances he decided to return to his birthplace and pursue his comedy dreams. It didn't take very long before he became a regular at the Comedy Cabaret, a chain of comedy clubs in the Delaware Valley, and began to hone his craft. Brandon left Philadelphia after only one year for the bright lights of "The Big Apple". In three years in New York he performed at most of the clubs in the city as well as colleges and corporate events. Brandon decided it was time to go west, but first he would return to the place his journey began. In a year and a half in Charleston, Brandon experienced a creative explosion, writing a whole new act and becoming a local favorite producing live shows at the upstairs bar above Sermet's Restaurant. On one Tuesday night 175 people crowded the small bar to see Brandon's imaginative new routine. Soon after the success of his Charleston shows, he moved to Los Angeles to try his luck in the entertainment capital of the world. In two years in Los Angeles Brandon has under gone a period of growth and focus which has yet to find its ceiling. In addition to having his own weekly show at The Ha Ha Café, Brandon has started an acting career that includes a small role in a feature film and a commercial that aired during the Super Bowl. Television appearances include a recurring guest star role as Kevin the Unicorn Man on My Name Is Earl (2005) and a guest star role as a carnival vendor on Weeds (2005).
