Evgeny Pavlovich Velikhov, a physicist and scientific leader in the Russian Federation, has scientific achievements in many areas of science: plasma physics, lasers, controlled thermonuclear fusion, power engineering,and magnetohydrodynamics (high-power pulsed MHD generators). He has authored over 1500 scientific publications and a number of inventions and discoveries. He is the President of the Kurchatov Institute (named after Igor Kurchatov) and the first Secretary of the Public Chamber of Russia. Evgeny Pavlovich Velikhov is a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He was the Vice-president of the Soviet Academy of Sciences.
