With multiple academic degrees, Lana Parshina initially worked as a Russian/English/German interpreter, a freelance journalist, and a public relations consultant/crisis manager. But, filmmaking was her passion and she left a vibrant career in crisis management to embrace her dream. She turned to NYU Tisch School of Arts for advanced training in the art of filmmaking. All of her previous professions have contributed to her style of work as an independent filmmaker. First as an interpreter who had projects with US Library of Congress and then next adapting several screenplays from Russian into English, she learned to embrace diversity and push the boundaries of her creative skills. As a journalist, she acquired the natural curiosity to dig underneath the surface. She values the importance of two-way communication and taking decisive steps to prevent crisis with her role as a public relations consultant/crisis manager dealing with distressed companies.
