Makgano Mamabolo

Makgano Mamabolo acquired her Bachelor's Degree from AFDA (The African School of Film and Dramatic Arts) and began her filmmaking career in 2001. She has performed in a spectrum of genres from film, sitcom, drama, presenting, commercials, soap opera, telenovela, as well as theater... having starred as Miss Kwa Kwa - her own one woman stage production, in theaters country wide, for four years (which has since been adapted into a second novel). She works very comfortably both in front of the camera, and behind the scenes... as an all-round Show Runner - producer, scriptwriter as well as a director. She is the former MD of Puo Pha Productions and is proud to have produced the ground breaking TV series: SOCIETY, as well as the internationally acclaimed documentary: SKULLS OF MY PEOPLE, on Al Jezeera - having won two international awards, and five South African Golden Horn awards. She was the Associate Producer on the Out In Africa feature film: WHILE YOU WEREN'T LOOKING that had its world premier at the Torino Film Festival and has won four international awards. After a year-long travel sabbatical... she returned to the Film and TV industry as a freelance filmmaker, working as a Creative Producer for Quizzical Pictures 150 episode long running series: LITHAPO, after the resounding success of her cinematic comedy debut in the multi-award-winning feature film: ZULU WEDDING and DIAMOND CITY on NETFLIX. She has sat on the Board of the African Craft Trust since 2011 and has had the honor of sitting on the SAFTA - Golden Horn Awards judging panel in 2008 & 9. Makgano Mamabolo is also a Voice Artist, a Master of Ceremonies and avails herself for panel discussions on the South African Film and Television industry, with over 20 years experience. She is now in the process of securing the financing for her feature film directing debut: FLUID
