Director, Writer, Producer, Actor whose Short films--The Good Kisser of Manila, Percy Byshhe: A Love Story, Luwal, Pag-Ibig at Paalam, Textures for the Soul, among others, have been exhibited both domestically and internationally and have won awards from the Gawad CCP and Asian Young Cinema of Japan. The Good Kisser Of Manila was first shown in theaters nationwide through the Metro Manila Film Festival Short Film Endowment Program. On television, it debuted during the Cinema Centennial Celebrations in 1998 then regularly shown at CinemaOne Sky in the years 2000 through 2004. Aside from television and theatrical exhibitions, the short films have been at international exhibitions -- National Cinematheques, Cultural Exchanges and Film Festivals at New York, San Francisco, Berlin, Hongkong, Toronto and Melbourne. Other involvements in film have also received awards from Urian, Film Academy of the Philippines, MTV Asia/New York. Some of his advertising copy work have also been adjudged World's Best Copy. J.A. Tam studied Writing, A.B. English at the University of the Philippines and Film Cinematography, Production, Writing, Digital Media and 3D Animation at these institutions: Mowelfund Film Institute, Goethe Institut, Ecole Nationale Superieure La Femis, Australia Center, Thomas Jefferson Cultural Center and Informatics via a Tesda Philippines scholarship.
