Tyler studied musical theater in college and stage performance at Howard Fine Acting Studio in Los Angeles. Before his acting career, Tyler was in the US military, and deployed to a combat zone during Operation Iraqi Freedom. His first major roles were Tony Markovich in Showtime's "Shameless", Pastor Tudor in ABC's "G.C.B." and Ryan Madison in HBO's "Barry".
