New Zealand born and bred into a theatrical family, Luke spent his early years watching and reviewing theatre with the father of New Zealand theatre and his grandfather, Bruce Mason. From these experiences he developed a passion for performance and at the age of six began working in film, television & radio as a child performer both in front of the camera and behind the microphone as the face & voice of some of New Zealand's best loved commercials of the 1980s. In the 25 years since he started his career in the screen industry Luke has worked as an assistant director, director, producer, editor and camera operator on projects such as US films and television series like Evil Dead, Spartacus, The New Legends of Monkey and Legend of the Seeker, to award winning New Zealand films like The Dark Horse, Lee Tamahori's Mahana, and Beyond the Known World, on which he also served as Associate Producer. His debut feature film as producer Everything We Loved stormed the world festival circuit in 2014. Most recently Luke was one of the producers on the BBC1/Lookout Point TV six- part feature series of the acclaimed Vikram Seth novel A Suitable Boy. Filmed on location in India, the series was adapted for the screen by Andrew Davies and directed by Monsoon Wedding's Mira Nair. Immediately prior to that Luke was part of the producing team on BBC2/Working Title six-part feature series of the Man Booker Prize winning novel The Luminaries, written by Eleanor Catton, on which he also oversaw the series as 1st Assistant Director and Director of the action unit. A recent attendee of the producing master class of Jon Landau, producer of Titanic and the science fiction blockbuster Avatar, Luke has a slate of feature and episodic projects in development and is passionate about creating memorable narratives and forging winning collaborative partnerships.
