Justin Corsbie is a celebrated writer/director whose feature film debut, HARD LUCK LOVE SONG (2020), stars Michael Dorman (Amazon's Patriot, Invisible Man), Sophia Bush, Dermot Mulroney, Brian Sacca, Melora Walters, Oscar-nominated Eric Roberts and The RZA. The script is inspired by the song "Just Like Old Times" by acclaimed singer/songwriter Todd Snider, and the film is Justin's love letter to the gritty, Americana underbelly that he was immersed in growing up in Austin, Texas. HARD LUCK LOVE SONG is set for a world premiere in competition at the Austin Film Festival. The film is the jury award winner for Best Narrative Feature at the Portland Film Festival, where it will screen at the end of October 2020, with special recognition for skillful directing and riveting performances. The jury says Hard Luck Love Song is, "a true character driven indie where...the characters are deep and textured. With artful and deft cinematography, direction, and editing, the film evokes auteurs of yore such as John Cassavetes and Hal Ashby." Justin Corsbie is also the founding director of Synthetic Pictures, an internationally recognized production company specializing in commercials, branded content and filmed entertainment with offices in LA, Austin and NYC. Synthetic's clients include Starbucks, Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, DreamWorks, Shell, Nissan, Burger King, Infiniti, Samsung, and Vegas Tourism. Justin is an award-winning commercial director who excels at eliciting authentic performances through humorous storytelling and arresting visuals. Justin studied film at NYU and worked in New York City until 1999. His experience in NYC included work with prominent companies like Miramax and GenArt. In 1999 he returned to Austin, his hometown, accepting a position at XOPIX, where he quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Executive Producer of the commercial division. He went on to launch Synthetic in 2002 at the age of 25 with $500 of personal seed money. Synthetic has since grown into a world-class, award-winning commercial production company with offices on the three coasts (East, West & Texas). Justin's accolades include Jury Award Winner for Best Narrative Feature at the Portland Film Festival, Closing Night Selection at New York's Gen Art Film Festival, SXSW ShortCase Winner, Addys, Tellys, Auroras, The Mobius, AICP Shortlist, and The Creative Summit awards, including several Best in Show recognitions. He is a multi-year finalist for the Austin Under 40 Awards, honoring professional excellence and commitment to community service in his hometown of Austin, Texas. He is also a member of the 2011 class of the EO Entrepreneurial Masters Program at MIT, an executive educational program designed to identify and bring together the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders. Justin currently splits his time between Los Angeles and Austin, and is involved in a number of entertainment projects including several feature films and television shows, which are in various stages of production, post-production, and development.
