Matthan Harris was born on September 23, 1986, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was fascinated with cinema at a young age, especially with films such as Jaws, Alien, The Terminator, The Exorcist, and Star Wars. Throughout his college years, Matthan cut his teeth by writing, directing, editing, and acting in several short films with his friends. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Radio/Television/Film from the University of North Texas in May 2009. He shortly after began production on his first official short film, Nothing Left, in which he played the vigilante protagonist. Nothing Left won the Gold Remi Award for Best Directing-Shorts at WorldFest-Houston, screened at Cannes' Short Film Corner, and aired on the TV channel ShortsHD. In 2010, Matthan formed his production company Incisive Pictures. He then wrote, directed, and played the psychotic antagonist in his first feature film The Inflicted. This serial killer saga starred horror icons Doug Bradley (Hellraiser), Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects), Sid Haig (House of 1000 Corpses), and Giovanni Lombardo Radice (City of the Living Dead). The Inflicted wrapped production in 2011 and it received worldwide distribution in 2013. It won the Gold Remi Award for Best First Feature at WorldFest-Houston, and screened at over 20 film festivals worldwide including Texas Frightmare Weekend, Days of the Dead, Weekend of Horrors, and Fantafestival. In April 2014, Matthan played the German deaf-mute Jacek Falecki in the "Make a Wish" segment of German Angst, a horror anthology feature that was shot in Berlin. German Angst was directed by Andreas Marschall (Masks), Jörg Buttgereit (Nekromantik), and Michal Kosakowski (Zero Killed). Matthan learned German Sign Language for the role of Jacek, and had a wonderful time playing the kindhearted boyfriend. Matthan was also hired by the film's producers to provide the voiceover narrations for the film's trailers. In 2015, Matthan wrapped production on the psychological thriller short film Sudden Reality, which we co-wrote, directed, and played the tragically twisted leading role in. Sudden Reality premiered at Housecore Horror Film Festival, which was founded by legendary metal singer Philip H. Anselmo (Pantera, Down). Sudden Reality won the Gold Remi Award for Best Directing-Shorts at WorldFest-Houston, Best Thriller Short at Motor City Nightmares, Best Actor Award for Matthan at Scares That Care Film Festival, and also received a Best Actor Nomination for Matthan at Macabre Faire Film Festival. In April 2016, Matthan graduated from the Sandford Meisner Center's two-year professional acting program in Burbank, CA. Matthan was taught by Ranjiv Perera as well as Martin Barter, who was trained directly by Sanford Meisner to teach the Meisner Technique. In 2017, Matthan wrote and directed the ghoulish segment "The Damned Statue" for Hex Studios' anthology feature For We Are Many, which he also acted in alongside Eileen Dietz (The Exorcist). In 2020, Matthan completed his most ambitious project yet: the supernatural horror feature film Baphomet, which he wrote, directed, and played the heroic husband Mark Neville in. Matthan began production on Baphomet in 2016 and this film gave him the exciting opportunity to work with Dani Filth (Cradle of Filth) and Nick Principe (Laid to Rest), and to reunite with Giovanni Lombardo Radice (The Omen). When not filmmaking or screenwriting, Matthan stays busy with a wide range of memorable acting roles. Some of his work includes "Murder Made Me Famous," anime shows with FUNimation such as "Attack on Titan" and "Tokyo Ghoul:re," commercials for companies such as Subway and Six Flags, industrials for companies like Toyota, 7-Eleven, and Sam's Club, music videos for artists like Pantera, Tory Lanez, and King Von featuring Polo G, playing the notorious killer Robert Durst in "Robert Durst: An ID Murder Mystery," and playing one of The Walking Dead at Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights.
