Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, David Schatanoff, Jr's passion for filmmaking began when he used his father's VHS camcorder to create stop motion short videos at age eight. His first film, Sony Gegen die Totschlager Nazis, was a Kung-fu film shot in English and later dubbed into German as an homage to the Saturday morning Honk Kong features he grew up watching. After attending a year of college as a pre-med student, David attended the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Jersey. During college, he saw the blockbuster feature Jurassic Park which planted the seed of moving to the Los Angeles area and pursuing a career as a filmmaker. After moving to Los Angeles, David began working in Post Production for film, TV and video games for the major studios including Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Paramount and MGM. His aspirations and experiences in production and post production guided him to focus his career as a producer. He has since been involved in various independent feature films, shorts, web series and TV shows.
