Bruno Bancalari (1984) studied film at NYFA and film and television at CENTRO, Mexico City. His career in the audiovisual industry has focused on the production of music videos and documentaries. His documentary filmography includes the medium-length film “Hasta la raíz” (2026) (presented at Los Cabos FF 2016, Ambulante and winner of the Latin Grammy for Best Long Video), the short film “Musas: A Tribute to Latin American Folklore in the Hands of Los Macorinos presented” in 2017 at Ambulante, and also winner of the Latin Grammy for ‘Best Long Video’), and the medium-length film ‘Quien me atañe, escucha mis voces’ (2020) (Latin Grammy nominee 2021). “Hijos de la costa” (2024), his first feature film, is a documentary that portrays the musician in his purest state, surrounded by his immediate environment and extolling the musical tradition as an elemental principle in the construction of the identity of today's Mexico.
