Udayan Baijal is the Co-founder at Jamun, a film production company based in New Delhi, India. Prior to his work as a Producer, Udayan has extensive experience working as a First Assistant Director and Associate Producer on international feature films, documentaries and commercials - running production and the shooting floor while meticulously managing schedules, ensuring the Director's creative vision is never compromised and keeping Producer's budgets in check. His specialized skill set is to act as a bridge between the international systems and processes of filmmaking and the ground realities in India. He has worked on a number of international feature films including Christopher Nolan's Tenet, Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, John Madden's The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Mira Nair's The Reluctant Fundamentalist. He also has experience in post-production, as an Assistant Editor on Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire at the cutting rooms in London and as the Visual Effects Assistant Director for the India leg of Ang Lee's Life of Pi. After an extensive career in feature film, advertising, and television, his co-founder Ayesha Sood and Udayan founded Jamun in order to produce the kind of content they wished to see in the Indian media landscape. They pride themselves in forging a new path, bringing lessons from big budget feature films and crewing a dynamic team that is equally adept at fiction, commercial work and cinematic non fiction projects. For the past year, Jamun has been developing their own original content. Udayan's academic background laid the foundations for, and continues to fuel his interests as a filmmaker. He holds a Bachelor's degree in History from the prestigious St. Stephens College in Delhi and a Masters in Mass Communication & Filmmaking from Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi. He recently received a felicitation from the AJ Kidwai Mass Communication Research Centre as distinguished alumni for the year 2018. Udayan was awarded the prestigious INLAKS Scholarship to train in digital film distribution and post production with leading film companies in New York and London, which helped him develop a keen interest in alternative distribution and marketing strategies for independent content.
