Vladimir Koyfman (born 17, February, 1959 ) is a Russian theater and film director, producer, playwright, scriptwriter, an acting teacher and a lecturer of History and Philosophy of Arts in GITIS Scandinavia. He started his career as an artist in the 1980s after he had completed the Leningrad Vera Mukhina Higher School of Art and Design, one of the best higher school for artists in the former USSR. The following year he continued his education at Russian State Institute of Performing Arts, in the Directing Department. At the end of the 1980s he was already running his own theater called The Leningrad Chamber Theatre, wrote and put on plays for theaters in Leningrad and Moscow: "Charmed April", "Madam De Sade", "The Bald Soprano", "Miss Julie", "Svejk" and others, some of them won numerous awards at the festivals. His play " On Christmas Eve" is still running after 20 years. In 1992 Vladimir Koifman left for Amsterdam where he founded from scratch The Amsterdam International Chamber Theatre and became its director. His theatre traveled a lot, taking part in different theater festivals in Italy, Russia, the Chech Republic, Egypt, Holland, Ireland, Poland, Denmark, Norway and Ukraine. At the same time he was eager to organize GITIS Scandinavia (the Scandinavian department of the "Russian Academy of Theatre Arts, GITIS" in Moscow) for European students in Denmark, Aarhus. The first graduates began their careers all over Europe in 2004. Kristofer Hivju (Tormund "The Game of Thrones") was among of them. He returned to Russia in 2008 and began working as a film director, making movies for the First Chanel and NTV. He has made about 150 episodes for different series such as "Murders' Profile" and "Hotel "Phoenix" since then. One of his most recent works "Agatha's Case. Queen of Diamonds" was awarded "Best TV-series" on NYCTVF film festival in 2021. Vladimir Koyfman was a scriptwriter and a director of a full feature "Iliana" which was released in 2019 .
