Art Hsu was born in Queens, New York and raised in New York City. A rebellious and non-conformist spirit led him to military school in Long Island, NY. He also attended Boston College. In his early 20's he spent time working and traveling in Asia before beginning his career as an actor. In 2007, he was cast in the short film The State of Sunshine (2007), playing a young illegal immigrant struggling to survive with his sister in the Florida panhandle. The film won several significant awards. In 2009, he was cast as the villain Johnny Vang in the high octane thriller Crank: High Voltage (2009) opposite Jason Statham. Although the majority of his work has been in feature films in the crime and gangster genres, Hsu is an actor with tremendous range who is beginning to branch out into a wider gamut of both cutting edge and mainstream projects.
