Emmy-award winning Director/Writer/Producer Karen Grau is Chief Executive of Calamari Productions. The company has specialized in documentary series, independent films and digital content distribution for over twenty years. Calamari's exclusive camera access inside arenas that are otherwise legally closed to the media and the general public has resulted in documentary programming that has garnered journalism's highest honors, including: the National Edward R. Murrow Award, National Headliner Award, AWRT Gracie Award for Documentary Series, Emmy Awards, Associated Press Broadcasters Award, Columbus International Film Festival Outstanding Documentary winner, National IRE Award for Best Documentary, and the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Award for Best Coverage of Children's Issues. Calamari Director/Exec. Grau has produced more than 36 documentary programs and news specials for outlets such as A&E, MSNBC, Dateline NBC, MTV, ABC News Nightline, Bio, PBS, Hulu, Lifetime and Channel 4. Karen's career also includes three years as Deputy Legislative Director to former Indiana Governor Evan Bayh. Her work included analyzing the content and fiscal impact of legislation drafted by state agencies under the jurisdiction of the Governor's office. Grau prepared legislative briefings for statewide and national speeches and assisted in writing three State of the State addresses. Karen is Knight Foundation Fellow in Ethics at Washington and Lee University. She and her husband, Larry, have two grown children and split their time between Calamari Productions' offices in Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon.
