Andrea Speyer is an American actress and writer. She was born and raised in Chicago by her loving mother and grandparents who were European immigrants. She learned French, German, Italian and English. Her father was of German, English, Irish and Swedish descent. " I had a wonderful childhood because of my family; especially my mother and grandparents who gave us so much of themselves and taught us by example about love, loyalty, humility and respect. There was always laughter, music, movies and art in our home. It was the place family and friends gathered for Sunday dinner and holidays." Although shy and soft spoken, she loved school and excelled in science, language, literature, and music; singing soprano in the girls chorus. She was enrolled in ballet at a young age and was accepted at the prestigious Boitzov School and The Fine Arts Academy becoming proficient in classical ballet, tap and modern dance. After high school, she studied Shakespeare and other classical works for stage and film performance with renowned acting coach Ted Liss. Later, she performed with Second City troupe and Victory Gardens theaters , which she credits for nurturing her improv skills and comedic chops. After finishing her studies she worked as a background player where she gained experience on film sets, leading to various bit parts. She was selected by John Hughes to play John Candy's date in the film Uncle Buck, acted as the Clearisel girl and was a regular feature in Michael Mann's Crime Story with Dennis Farina. After moving to Los Angeles she landed small but noticeable roles in major feature films and popular television shows such as Startrek Insurrection, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, the 70's Show, Friends, Will & Grace, 3rd Rock, Titus and more. Taking a long break from acting to pursue business and other interests, she created, wrote and produced screenplays, books, and videos for family entertainment. Most recently, she is on hiatus from writing and preparing to act in several new film projects for 2020.
