Jonathan D'Ambrosio was born an hour outside of Detroit, MI where by the age of seven he first began making short films on DV tape. What started as a backyard hobby eventually turned into a full time passion, as Jonathan began entering his films into festivals throughout middle and high school. It was at the same time he began acting in the school theater, performing in a variety of fall plays and spring musicals. Upon graduation, Jonathan had received over 70 awards for his amateur films through various national film festivals, including the Grand Prize for Channel One's "Super 8 Film Challenge" in which Jonathan's film was hand picked as the winner by director J.J. Abrams. Soon after, Jonathan attended the Motion Picture Institute of MI where he specialized in Directing, Cinematography, and Screenwriting. During this time Jonathan directed five short films, each that would go on to gain acclaim through festivals including his short film, Broken, which received a Platinum Remi Award at the Worldfest Houston International Film Festival. After completing film school, Jonathan worked for two years in the Michigan film industry as a production designer, before founding the directors collective, Qualia Creative - a platform designed to support and encourage filmmakers to fully realize their film concepts, along with four fellow directors. Jonathan then moved to Los Angeles, CA to study at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting. Over the next few years, Jonathan traveled to Europe where he lived in Germany, collaborating with actors and filmmakers abroad. It was during this time that he was granted the Talentförderung funding from Nordmedia for his short film 'Spektakel'. Jonathan returned to Los Angeles, continuing his studies at the Stella Adler Academy while working as a photographer / videographer for Marie Claire Malaysia, DAMAN Magazine as well as Vogue and GQ Thailand. He spends his time between Los Angeles and Detroit, and is represented by Bold Management & Production. He recently appeared in roles for ABC's 'The Rookie' (2021) and Amazon's 'Daisy Jones & The Six' (2022).
