French composer and singer, Yasmine Meddour was born in 1990 in Russia. She spent her early childhood in Algeria and moved to Paris when she was eight. She grew up in France listening to Classical composers such as Ravel, Mahler, Chopin and experimental artists such as Bjork, Radiohead, Massive Attack. She started to sing in a local choir and began to write her own music by using a second-hand piano provided by her mother. Her first track composed and performed for cinema was "Alone" for the feature film "The Divide" directed by Xavier Gens. She composed an original song for the movie "Papicha" directed by Mounia Meddour, in competition at the Cannes Film Festival and won the award for Best First Film at the Cesar Academy 2020. She often collaborates with the artist and photographer Etienne Rougery-Herbaut on projects such as "Cornerstone", that won the Second Prize at the Swiss Photography Festival "Nuit de la photo".
