James (J. C.) Egan James started acting and writing in the early 80's, and has enjoyed a long and varied professional career in Theatre and Film and Radio. His many credits include roles in Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Spider's Web, Of Mice and Men, Treasure Island, The Passion Play, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, South Pacific, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Man of La Mancha, Pirates of Penzance, Blithe Spirit, Mrs. Warren's Profession, The Real Inspector Hound, Sleuth, Buddy Shell; Metaphysical Private Investigator, War of the Worlds, Jackie and Phil on Planet Ten!, and many versions of A Christmas Carol. He has served in the theatre in various professional productions not only as an actor and writer, but also as a stage manager, lighting board operator, sound technician, assistant fight choreographer, fight choreographer and dance captain, assistant director, co-director and director. He was a founding member of The Santa Susana Repertory Company as well as the Thousand Oaks Repertory Company. His film credits include the television pilot Discount Divas, the award winning Welcome Home, The Promise; the Birth of the Messiah and will be seen in the upcoming feature film Tarantula. His radio credits include the lead voice for Buddy Shell; Metaphysical Private Investigator, originally broadcast in the 90's and then available on Load Stone CDs, several radio spots and the SSRC and Fried Out Features production of War of the Worlds. As a writer, James has written and published several plays, including an anthology called Justus' Lament, a science fiction novel titled Tales of the Astro Force, based on his musical Jackie and Phil on Planet Ten!, music by Rick Pratt, and has also written several other musicals, such as Journey into Hope which ran for four years in Sierra Madre, Elves which ran both as a straight comedy and then as a musical with music and lyrics by John Wells, also the composer for Journey into Hope, a children's Christmas play called Sheba, The Tough Talk'n Sheep which was shown twice in Southern California and once in Amsterdam, and Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol (enjoying its 17th year) with music and lyrics by Rick Rhodes and also a stage adaptation of H. G. Wells' The Time Machine with an original underscore also by Rick Rhodes. James has served as a writer for The Passion Play for twelve years. James was the chief lyricist on the musical version of Treasure Island for the SSRC and adapted and underscored the music for the SSRC production of Of Mice and Men. He has written many comedic commercials for the radio comedy Buddy Shell; Metaphysical Private Investigator, as well as articles for a small publication in the 90s called Video Voice magazine. His musical, Jackie and Phil on Planet Ten! is being considered for a screenplay. He recently finished work as lyrics consultant on The Promise the Birth of the Messiah, an animated musical that he is now adapting for the stage. He has two new novels in progress.
