Maritxell Carrero

Maritxell Carrero is a film, television, and theater actress with international acclaim. Known for her versatility and perfectly bilingual (English and Spanish), she is producer of musical documentary drama "Calle de la Resistencia" in which she also stars. She portrays Anabella de Leon in L.A. Theatre Works National Tour of "Seven" (2020), and is lead in "Esperanza" (2018), a film produced by Jana Memel. She was the lead actress in Peter Sellars' opera "The Indian Queen," recipient of several 2015 Golden Mask Awards, which she notably performed at the English National Opera, Teatro Real in Madrid, and Moscow's Bolshoi Theater. While completing a BFA at Florida International University, she was cast in several telenovelas, including "Dame Chocolate" and Televisa's "Bajo Las Riendas del Amor" (both in 2007). She originated the role of Señorita Reflejos in "Dos y Dos," a children's series for Telemundo broadcast in both Latin and North America. Maritxell Carrero holds an MFA from UC San Diego and is the writer/producer of "A Revolutionary Mystic," a biographical one-woman show retracing the life of famed Puerto Rican activist Lolita Lebrón. She was part of the multicultural production of "All My Sons" at Hollywood's Matrix Theater, winner of the 2012 NAACP Image Award for Best Ensemble. Carrero's image has been used in numerous national advertising campaigns (AT&T, Toyota, Jack in the Box, Modelo, and Western Union, among others). She started her career performing theater as a teenager in her native Puerto Rico. She later trained with acclaimed Michael Chekhov technique teacher Mala Powers and at The Ivana Chubbuck's Studio.
