Meegwun was born in Toronto, Ontario Canada. From age two to thirteen, he lived up on many First Nations communities across Northern Ontario. Meegwun grew up hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors while taking part in many Ojibway cultural practices. Dancing, singing and art were always a part of his life. His other love: Movies. He was always taking his friends up the river by canoe and into the woods to act out all of the movies he had recently watched. After leaving the First Nations communities, he completed high school in Kenora, Ontario before being accepted into the acting conservatory at York University in 2005. There he studied the acting craft and built upon his love of the art form. Since graduating he has worked on stage, film and television all over North America with the very Indigenous stars he looked up to as a young boy. His first big break was on APTN's "Mohawk Girls" as Butterhead and then as Daniel Aerov in Syfy's virus show "Helix." Meegwun continues to work on his craft in writing, theatre, film and television while teaching arts based workshops to kids in Northern BC and Ontario Canada. He is also an Okichitaw Indigenous Martial Artist, Personal Trainer and Yoga teacher. His directorial debut are two full length documentaries about the BC Salmon numbers and Okichitaw Martial Arts. His first short film called "Sweet Dreams" will be released in 2018. See Meegwun next as Officer Owen Beckbie in CBC's "Burden of Truth," airing Jan.10/2018 at 8pm.
