P. Alberto Sanchez was born Paul Alberto Sanchez on November 20th, 1978, in Tucson, Arizona. The son of a Puerto Rican father and a Hispanic/Caucasian mother, Sanchez attended college at Dixie College, which is now known as Dixie State University and Southern Utah University. After graduating in 2000, Sanchez returned to his hometown, where he took a job as a radio personality. After finishing his first feature length script, "Able Becoming," Sanchez relocated to Salt Lake City, with the hopes of making the film in the growing market of northern Utah. Eventually, Sanchez shifted more into the field of television news photojournalism and in 2010, he made his first short film, Pocho (2010), on a meager $1,000 budget. It would be two years before he made his second short, Incommunicado (2012), for the same amount. His second short film made a mark at various Latino-themed film festivals in Boston, San Antonio and Seattle. Eventually relocating to Los Angeles, Sanchez has just finished Last Days of Dixie (2018), his first feature length documentary, detailing his time at Dixie State University. Sanchez will film his first scripted feature, Mi Navidad, by December of 2019.
