Bernie was born and raised in the Greater Providence area. He took an early interest in acting, nabbing the role of "Stage Manager" in his high school's production of "Our Town" and took theater courses at the local community college. Later in life he trained at Second Story Theater. Eventually he fell in with the burgeoning Rhode Island film community and started landing roles in local film.
